Hello Los Angeles!!

I’m being graciously hosted by a friend in their private studio in Downtown Los Angeles in the Jewelry District.

This will be by appointment only, 30 mins one tintype (with some time to either reshoot or make a second tintype if desired). If you’d like more than 3 tintypes please book two portrait sessions back to back.

I’ll be using strobes so kids and animals are possible (though always a variable, they usually dictate if we make a successful portrait, not us). Can also do up to 4 faces, though it is an additional $10 per face past two. If we are considering a portrait with more than 4 I would recommend a composite (two plates next to each other) or individual portraits as I may not have the space to accommodate that many in a single image.

Since it is a private studio I will also be able to accommodate Boudoir sessions (open to all genders and couples/polycules, just don’t be weird).

Hello Houston! Excited to be visiting and working in my hometown.

I’m being graciously hosted in a friends studio space in Montrose area and am able to take private studio session appointments.

Saturday & Sunday, March 21st & 22nd, 10-6pm.

By appointment only. You will recieve adress and day of details once booked.

These sessions are appropriate for children and animals (depending on their temperment and behavior of course). 30 minutes, one tintype and potential for one reshoot, or an extra tintype if time permits. If you woud like more than two tintypes please book back to back sessions. Keep in mind, with varibales such as mutiple faces beyond two, animals, and children that we may only have time for one portrait in the session time.

As we (Minneapolis/Saint Paul) continue to be under seige by ICE and our vulnerable neighbors, friends, and family really need our support right now. Many are sheltering in place and not working, and are not generating income and unable to pay for daily neccesities and bills.

I am going to be donating half of each session cost to mutual aid efforts and rental assistance for my local community and neighborhood (Whittier).

Sessions will be full price only from February 12-15, and I will not be accepting gift cards on these days.

If youd need to utilize the sliding scale, or use a gift certificate, please book a different day on my booking/pricing page.

Join me for by appointment only Natural Light outdoor sessions around Lake of the Isle in Minneapolis.

Current dates I will be popping up:
September 20th
October 5th (weather permitting)

I’m also offering these at 40%-60% discount from my normal outdoor session rates, depending on what size you get!

Location TBD, but will confirm and send a drop pin 1-2 days before.

Sessions will be 30 minutes and include one tintype, size of your choice, as well as potentially on reshoot. You may add extra portraits at the time of booking.

Things to consider for a Natural Light session:

- These portraits will have a longer exposure time, so you will need to be able to hold still for anywhere from 2-5 seconds (sometimes longer depending on what time of day it is). If you would like children or animals in the photo know that they will more likely be soft or blurry. Also the more faces there are, the harder it is, accepting imperfections is key with this process and style of shooting!

- I will frame these images usually full body so as to include the natural background, we can do a tighter portrait but note that softness/blurriness will be more noticable.

- These sessions are highly dependent on weather. In the case of rain we will need to cancel or reschedule. I will be in communication with you as much as possible. If rescheduling is not possible I will refund you the session cost.

- If you wear glasses, know that if they are UV coated/transitions/ Blue-blocking that they have a high likelihood of coming in tinted like sunglasses. If your glasses are important to feature of your face, consider bringing frames without lenses.

- The time of day you book will effect the look of your portrait, light is usually the most ideal in the morning before noon, harshest between 12-3, softens slighty 3-5 but exposure times get extended due to losing UV light. I’ll do my best to shoot a flattering image but will be at the mercy of the weather, cloud cover, etc.

Each Appointment is 30 minutes and includes one tintype (size of your choice). We will either have time for a reshoot if the first image is not satisfactory, or an extra tintype if you’d like to add a portrait. Hello New York!

I am so excited to be visiting, especially with my mobile setup for natural light portraits! This will be my first time offering portraits while visiting.

There are three different options that you may get your portrait made:

1. Natural Light "Housecall" Tintype Session (September 15th-17th)
Tintypes outside your home! Since I am driving to NYC, I will have my mobile setup in my car. Will need a safe place for me to park, close enough to access my darkroom. These sessions are very weather dependant, so please be flexible!

Each session is 45 minutes long and includes one tintype. You may purchase extra tintypes at the time of the session. I will be offering two size options, 5”x7” session for $250, and an 8”x10” session for $290.

2. La Plaza Cultural Natural Light Tintype Session (September 18th)
Hosted in the beautiful La Plaza Cultural community garden, these will be appointment based sessions.

Each session is 30 minutes long and includes one tintype. There may be time for an extra tintype during that time as long as their are no re-shoots. I will be offering two size options, 5”x7” for $88 and 8”x10” for $132.

3. Tompkins Square Park Natural Light Pop-up (September 19th)
Specific location in the park TBD. This one is a little loosey goosey, which is why it will be walk-in only. Tentatively planning on being setup from 11-5pm.

5”x7” for $80+tax
8”x10” for $120+tax

Natural Light Portrait Session at Blkk House

Hosting a Natural Light Portrait pop-up at my home in Saint Paul!

May 1st-3rd
10am-5pm each day, 30 minute sessions.

Each session includes one tintype, 30 minutes of shooting, and at least 6ft of distance between us (likely more than that!)

Things to consider for these sessions:

-These will not look like my usual in studio portraits since I will be using natural light. Exposure times will be longer (anywhere between 3-10 seconds depending on the type of light that day) and it will be imperative to hold still! Because of that this may not be the best option for a big family portrait with small children and animals, since they will more likely come in soft or blurry due to movement. Still doable, but as long as you can accept the imperfections of this style of shooting.

- These sessions will depend heavily on the weather, so if it is raining or very windy we will need to reschedule. I appreciate your flexibility!

- I promise to maintain a safe distance from you and yours the duration of our interaction. Typically I touch people to pose and adjust them for the portrait, but will refrain from doing so and use only verbal commands to pose you.

- Wear whatever you are comfortable with, but try to avoid graphic tees and text, since it will come in backwards and can be distracting. I am found of how knitwear, leather, and just general layering looks on tintype, but ultimately up to you! Also note, reds come in dark/black, and blues light/white.

Saturday, September 7th, Blkk Hand will be at MOTOSOTA making natural light motorcycle portraits!

From 12-6pm (depending on weather) I’ll be making natural light portraits of people and their bikes. These will be longer exposures, so please no children or animals. You must be able to hold still for anywhere between 4-10 seconds!

  • The opportunity to re-shoot if something doesn’t come out right

“Cultus Unknown is a fashion show produced by A Conspiracy of Strange Girls in partnership with Fashion Week MN.

This show will shift from a traditional runway model and instead focus on installation pieces and custom couture garments around the themes of the unknown, the uncanny, the subconscious, and fear. The event will feature separate distinct spaces for guests to weave about and will work as a gallery of installations coming together under a common theme, as a haunted house of high fashion.

Featuring designs by Black Spoke Leather Co., Haus of Elle, Otherrealm, Sica Dawn, Monica Helland, and Bohica Costume Design”

Friday September 28th, 8pm-11pm.

Will be making 4”x5” portraits for $60+tax.
